For topical, aromatherapy or dietary purposes.
Digestion is a great oil to have on hand. It’s a specially selected blend of peppermint, ginger, lemon and fennel for aiding digestion. †
Not only is peppermint oil one of the oldest European herbs used for health purposes, other historical accounts date its use to ancient Japanese and traditional Chinese herbalism. The many peppermint oil uses have been documented back to 1,000 B.C. and have been found in several Egyptian pyramids. Today, peppermint oil is recommended for supporting and calming the gut, while supporting healthy digestion. †
With a high menthol content (approximately 50 to 60 percent), peppermint oil is a treasured oil with many benefits.
In general, ginger and fennel are both noted for helping to soothe occasional stomach upset, while fennel and lemon are important for ease of digestion. †
Ginger is a flowering plant and its root is widely used as a spice, and it has been used traditionally for thousands of years. Ginger is part of the plant family that includes turmeric and cardamom, and all are regarded for their health and wellness benefits. Ginger has a sweet, spicy, woody and warm scent, and ginger essential oil is a warming essential oil
Due to its reported digestive health properties, ginger is often an integral part of Asian cuisines. Most commonly, it’s added to meals, including meat, because of its ability to aid digestion. However, ginger root and ginger essential oil are gaining popularity for their preservation and flavoring capabilities.
Ginger essential oil is believed to be the most potent form of ginger because it has the highest levels of gingerol. In fact, of the 115 different chemical components found in ginger root, the health benefits are believed to come from gingerols, the oily resin from the root.
Lemon is a flowering plant grown in many countries all over the world, although they are native to Asia and are believed to have been brought to Europe around 200 A.D.
Lemon essential oil comes from cold-pressing the lemon peel and not the inner fruit. The peel is actually the most nutrient-dense portion of the lemon because of its fat-soluble phytonutrients.
Lemons and lemon oil are popular because of their refreshing scent and invigorating, purifying and cleansing properties that can help support healthy digestion and more. †
Fennel has a black licorice-like flavor, and fennel essential oil is best known for its digestive health-supporting benefits. †
The fennel plant is a perennial with yellow flowers. Although it’s native to the Mediterranean, it can be found worldwide.
Fennel has an interesting history, too. For example, it was used by the ancient Egyptians as not only food but also in remedies, while it was used to soothe snake bites in ancient China.
