Citadelle Gin is crafted at Château de Bonbonnet, home to Ferrand Cognac and Plantation Rum, using nineteen aromatics and botanicals, including French juniper, Moroccan coriander, Mexican orange peel and Chinese liquorice. Although a global fusion of ingredients, what they’ve captured is the essence of summertime in the southwest of France. Holidays, sunshine, ocean breezes, peace and quiet, a slower pace of life, and a gallic shrug to work – that can wait. It’s time for a gin and tonic and oysters doused in lemon. What’s so exciting about this gin is the ambition. The grounds of the château are being rapidly planted with more and more juniper, allowing the team to impart an increasing sense of terroir into each bottle. And that has seen it pick up more than 60 medals since it was first created in 1996.
