Endangered Brewing has one mission, to remove each animal from their cans when they are no longer a vulnerable species. The animals that they’ve chosen are all teetering on the endangered list, facing threats such as the climate crisis, habitat destruction, wildlife trade and competition from invasive species. So, they give 10% of the net profits from each beer directly to the wildlife charity Born Free, who promote ‘compassionate conservation’ to enhance the survival of these beautiful creatures. Not content with that, Endangered Brewing also has a strong focus on sustainability. So not only are their vegan-friendly beers made using UK hops, but they fill them into recyclable cans with recycled labels, and then box them up in ethically sourced cardboard and biodegradable tape. Pangolin Pale Ale is brewed with a tropical flavour profile using Northdown, Jest and Olicana hops, water, malted barley, malted oats and yeast. We fell in love with this beer because of its wonderful mango-like notes. With lots of exotic fruit, sun-kissed citrus and refreshing bitterness, this has summer sipping written all over it. Pangolins are gorgeous animals. There’s something almost prehistoric about their plate-like scales and the way they curl up into an armoured ball when threatened. Sadly, the pangolin is also the world’s most trafficked mammal. Confronted by the illicit trade in meat and scales and deforestation of their habitat, the population numbers of all eight species of pangolin are declining. Whether you choose to let your armour down with friends or curl up in a ball on the sofa with a movie, this pale ale is a fine choice.
