The vegan-friendly Harvey Nichols Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Vintage Champagne 2015 was crafted in the fashionable and bone-dry ‘Brut Nature’ style. Many consider this the purest expression of Champagne as there’s zero dosage to mask the terroir. And this wine has provenance that needs to be given centre stage. The 100% Chardonnay grapes were picked by hand from four Grand Cru sites on the Côte des Blancs. Le Mesnil-sur-Oger brings crispness and salty minerality, Chouilly delivers grapefruit aromatics, Cramant ups the richness and roundness, and finally there’s the marmalade-scented component from Avize – the home of Jacques Selosse and the village that gave birth to the prestigious Blanc de Blancs category. Maturation on the lees for 48 months, a year longer than required by law, has layered freshly baked baguette, toasted almond and brioche notes over the lemon mousse, crunchy green apple, smoked sea salt and chalkiness.
